About the Author
The purpose of this blog is to document the journey of being a transplant from New England, a northerner, into what is called "The Low Country," of South Carolina. If you are thinking about moving SOUTH to warmer weather and LOWER TAXES, resulting in a recreational, easy going lifestyle, I urge you to look at what South Carolina and the Grand Strand has to offer. Then call OR TEXT me! It was September of 2014 when I first set foot in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My husband, Ron, had been visiting for many years on his annual golf pilgrimage with fraternity brothers from Bentley University, located in Waltham, Massachusetts. After playing a week's worth of rounds at The Legends or Barefoot Resorts he would always say, "Nance, we have to get you down there, you are going to love it."
There is a special magic when you find "The ONE." As a licensed Realtor in South Carolina and a proud member of the Coastal Carolina Realtor's Association, I help couples, individuals and families find their special home in South Carolina, just like we found ours. I work as a Buyer's Agent and I am Veterans certified. I work all over the country as a referral agent and welcome the opportunity to speak with you about selling your home. The incredibly LOW TAXES, Lower COST OF LIVING, AN ABUNDANCE OF RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY, GOLF, AND DID I MENTION THE WEATHER IS FANTASTIC????? ALL of these factors contributed to our decision to EXIT CONNECTICUT and make roots here for the next stretch of our lives. If you are interested in taking a look at the most recent homes available in the MLS, I invite you to join me on my Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Coastal Real Estate website. Click Here! |
I LOVE THE HAMMOCK COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA! Spend ANY amount of time here with me and you will know this: an active adult lifestyle is what I moved here for. I golf, I ride my bike, I kayak in the marsh. I go for walks on the beach and love meeting new people. Renting a boat and cruising the rivers for a day with friends, nothing better! I love thrift store shopping and entertaining. Every morning I wake up and when I look out the window, I see palm trees! I feel as though I am in Disney World at Epcot every day with a new adventure around the corner. From the "Arrogantly Shabby" lifestyle of Pawley's Island to a great night out at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, to the vast array of outstanding restaurants in Murrells Inlet (The Seafood Capital of SC) there is so much to explore. Our first visit was spent in Surfside, South Carolina, just a short hop down the road from Myrtle Beach. We played golf, strolled on the beach, ventured out for a day trip in Charleston and visited with friends living in Pawley's Island. The early autumn weather was incredible. I was hooked. When I remarked how BLUE the sky was, my friend Andrea said, "Nancy, that's Carolina Blue."
In April of 2017, I joined my husband for his golf week, he went to the first tee and I went exploring. I met friends for lunch and shopping and touring in the area. In September of 2017 we flew in and spent the Labor Day weekend house hunting. We looked at 18 homes from north to south. On the third day, we found "Our Carolina Home." |
